Due to its epiphytic nature, you can grow it a bit differently than your other plants.

You can grow this plant in soil less medium for example in old tree bark, orchid bark, moss etc.

Dischidia ruscifolia grows and climbs on other trees to survive.

It’s a fast grower, easy to look after and it is great for a new plant parent.

The Million Hearts Plant readily and oftenly flowers when grown indoors. The flowers are white, tiny and very fragrant.

Planting And Care

Sunlight requirement of Dischidia Ruscifolia

• Natural indirect / artificial bright light is ideal for the growth.
• Grows well under the shade of larger trees.

Soil

• soil should be porous, light and loose.
• A mix of succulent/cactus soil will also works positively for the plant.

Watering in Dischidia Ruscifolia

Water only if the plant is showing signs of water requirement.

Water it once it is about to dry. If you feel that moisture is still there, let it sit for one day and then water the plant thoroughly.

Application of Fertilizer

• Before application of fertilizer loosen the topsoil without disturbing the roots of the plant so it can uptake the nutrients and moisture.
• During the main growing season (January-march) feed the plant with organic fertilizer once a month.
• Apply water immediately after application of fertilizer.

Plant Protection

• Remove dead, infected or damaged plant parts and discard them away from the plants.
• For any insect attack or disease, you can use Neem oil, Eucalyptus oil or Citrus oil spray for primary treatment.

Don’ts

• Do not over water the plant especially when pot does not have drainage holes.
• keep away from the AC Vents.
• Do not apply water on plant leaves.
