About Baby Croton Plant

Baby Croton Plant has dark green leaves which are splattered with bright yellow dots. The yellow spots will fade away on the new growth if the light is low. Baby Croton plants are found in landscapes and indoors as houseplants solely for their good looks. The plants grow to a maximum height of about 3 feet, although other members of the Croton family grow up to 6 feet, with a spread only about 2 feet wide. This is one of the most common cultivars for both indoor and outdoor use.

It is typically offered as an indoor plant, but can also be used outdoors as a seasonal accent plant in containers or plantings of annuals or mixed ornamentals.

Planting And Care for Baby Croton Plant

Sunlight

  • Croton plant grows well in bright indirect sunlight.

Soil

  • Soil should be well drain and porus.

Watering

  • Poke your finger/plain small stick into the soil to check the moisture.
  • Apply 1 cup (Approx. 50 ml) water when the top soil (3-4 inch) in pot feels dry to touch.
  • Apply water probably in the morning or evening time.
  • Do not overwater the plant.
  • As a rule of thumb, water the plant thoroughly in the summer and reduce watering in winter and rainy season.

Application of fertilizer for Baby Croton Plant

  • Before application of fertilizer loosen the topsoil without disturbing the roots of the plant so it can uptake the nutrients and moisture.
  • During the main growing season (January-March) feed the plant with organic fertilizer once a month.
  • Apply water immediately after application of fertilizer.
