Bottle Gourd G2
Description
The bottle gourd belongs to the cucumber family and originated in Africa, and is now available in most parts of the world. Also it comes in different shapes, the most common being the bottle-shaped (hence the name) and round. Also bottle gourds are grown by direct sowing of seeds or transplanting 15- to 20-day-old seedlings. Furthermore the plant prefers well-drained, moist, organic rich soil. In addition it requires plenty of moisture in the growing season and a warm, sunny position, sheltered from the wind. Besides it can be cultivated in small places such as in a pot, and allowed to spread on a trellis or roof. Moreover in rural areas, many houses with thatched roofs are covered with the gourd vines and the sizes vary from six inches in length to more than six feet.
Furthermore the plant produces night blooming white flowers. Besides the male flowers have long peduncles and the females have short ones with an ovary in the shape of the fruit. In addition sometimes the female flowers drop off without growing into a gourd due to the failure of pollination if there is no night pollinator (probably a kind of moth) in the garden. Moreover hand pollination can be used to solve the problem. Besides pollens are around 60 microns in length.
