Plant Description

  • An upright much branched large leafless succulent shrub or small tree.
  • It is capable of growing to 12 feet tall or more by 4 to 6 feet wide.
  • It has new growth that is fairly pliable but hardening into rigid flattened blue-gray to silver stems with spines at the tips.
  • Foliage stays greener when grow in shade but in full sun has a nice silver color.
  • This plant oozes a milky sap as when damaged or cut .

Soil should be well drained.

Plant Protection

  • Remove dead, infected or damaged plant parts and discard them away from the plants.
  • For any insect attack or disease, you can use Neem oil, Eucalyptus oil or Citrus oil spray for primary treatment.

Initial care for 1-2 weeks after receiving plant at your location.

  • Check the moisture in the soil before watering it.
  • Poke your finger into the soil, if dry then apply water.
  • Keep the plant in indirect light.
  • Do not re-pot immediately after receiving it.

Pruning

In early spring, if there are any damaged stems, they need to be removed to keep the plants healthy and to optimize their nutrient management. It is advised to cut back a certain number of stems after blooming in order to stimulate consistent flowering and growth of new foliage.
