Indian cuisine is synonymous with the use of chilli and it is a pantry staple in every Indian household. One of the easiest and most rewarding plants to grow for any food grower, the green chilli is an essential in every kitchen garden. Add them to curries, make a spice mix or pickle them, they taste good in all forms and are a great source of Vitamin A.

Sowing and planting procedure
- Sow the seeds 0.5 cm deep in seedling tray, water everyday to keep the soil moist.
- Germination will take place in 6-8 days.
- Transplant the seedlings in 30-35 days after sowing.
- Space the seedlings at 60cm by 60cm.
- Harvest the fresh chilies in 80-90 days from sowing.
Health Benefits of Green Chilli
A green chilli does much more than adding a punch to your food. Green chillies are loaded with antioxidants which help keep your body healthy. Green chillies contain a substance called ‘Capsaicin’ which offers a host of health benefits. Capsaicin helps fight inflammation. Capsaicin also works as a natural pain reliever. Apart from this, the heat that this capsaicin stimulates can help in clearing mucus from your stuffed up nose or congested lungs. Green Chillies are also loaded with Vitamin C and beta-carotene, which are good for your skin and immunity.
Surprisingly, green chillies have a high content of vitamins and minerals. Green Chillies are rich in Vitamin C, Vitamin A, Vitamin B complex ( B6 and B9) and are also rich in antioxidants. Green chillies also contain a phytonutrient called capsaicin which helps your body in numerous ways. Apart from all this, green chillies are also extremely low in calories and are almost fat free!
