Plant Description

The Hoya carnosa Variegata, commonly knoHoya Carnosa Variegata krimson Queen- Succulentwn as  Hoya  is a luscious succulent. Hoya Tricolor plants are evergreen plants derived from common Carnosa species. They are native to subtropical regions of East Asia but have also been well distributed in the Western pacific. In a tropical rainforest, the plant usually grows as an epiphyte and is thus well acquainted with humid conditions and moderate sunlight. The Hoya Tricolor plant is adored due to its thick waxy, succulent leaves that have pinkish to off-white variegation. It is often grown in a hanging basket due to its trailing habit.

Planting and care

Sunlight

This plant prefers bright indirect sunlight to a bit of full sun in the mornings.

Place the plant near a window where it receives ample amount of filtered light.

Soil

Soil should preferably be well-draining but rich with organic matter.

Watering

• Poke your finger/plain small stick into the soil to check the moisture.
• Apply 1 cup (Approx. 50 ml) water when the top soil (3-4 inch) in pot feels dry to touch.
• Apply water probably in the morning or evening time.
• Do not overwater the plant.
• As a rule of thumb, water the plant thoroughly in the summer and reduce watering in winter and rainy season.

Application of Fertilizer

• Before application of fertilizer loosen the topsoil without disturbing the roots of the plant so it can uptake the nutrients and moisture.
• During the main growing season (january-march) feed the plant with organic fertilizer once a month.
• Apply water immediately after application of fertilizer.

Plant Protection

• Remove dead, infected or damaged plant parts and discard them away from the plants.
• For any insect attack or disease, you can use Neem oil, Eucalyptus oil or Citrus oil spray for primary treatment.

Pruning

Hoya Tricolor pruning is usually done at least once a year. It’s a good practice to trim off spent foliage and even flowers in order to keep the plant vibrant and healthy-looking. Pruning generally keeps the plant healthy and it encourages more formation of new shoots.

Propagation

The easiest and most common way to propagate Hoya carnosa Variegata is through the use of stem cuttings.

• Do not over water the plant especially when pot does not have drainage holes.
• keep away from the AC Vents.
• Do not apply water on plant leaves.

Initial care for 1-2 weeks after receiving plant at your location:

• Keep the plant in Natural indirect /Artificial bright Light.

• Do not re-pot for min. 2 weeks after receiving it.
