Sprengeri Asparagus Fern- Plant

Description

Asparagus Ferns are dioecious plants, meaning that both male and female plants must be present to produce. This Fern is not a true fern is evergreen perennial plant in Liliaceae family. It is a round herbaceous and used in the landscape for its attractivefine-textured foliage. Long, arching stems densely covered with short, needle-like leaflets give this plant a delicate appearance. It has a cascading habit that makes it ideal for a hanging basket. Mature plants will bloom in summer with tiny, white-to-pale pink flowers hidden among the needle-like foliage. It’s also a popular outdoor container plant in temperate climates.

Asparagus fern Uses

Prune it back

Trim off older, bare stems in the spring to make room for new growth and to keep the plant looking neat.

Leaf drop

Usually a symptom of too much sunlight — or, more likely — dry soil.

Keep your asparagus fern where it’ll get filtered light.

Water regularly, but take care not to overwater.

The plant’s thick, tuberous roots store water and soggy soil can cause root rot.

Ornamental Use:

  • The plant is used for an ornamental purpose like mass planting, container or above-ground planter, groundcover, border, cascading down a wall etc.
