Plant Description

Tulip produces two or three thick bluish green leaves that are clustered at the base of the plant. The usually solitary bell-shaped flowers have three petals and three sepals. Depending on the species, tulip plants can be between 10 and 70 cm (4 and 28 inches) high.

Soil

• The soil should be well drained and fertile.
• Add organic compost to soil.

Watering

• The plant does best in a moist growing medium.
• Water the plant when the topsoil feels a bit dry to the touch.
• Do not let the growing medium dry completely. Also, avoid overwatering.

Application of fertilizer

• Before application of fertilizer loosen the topsoil without disturbing the roots of the plant so it can uptake the nutrients and moisture.
• During the main growing season (January-March) feed the plant with organic fertilizer once a month.
• Apply water immediately after application of fertilizer.

Initial care for 1-2 weeks after receiving plant at your location.

• Check the moisture in the soil before watering it.
• Poke your finger into the soil, if dry then apply water.
• Keep the plant in indirect light.
• Do not re-pot immediately after receiving it.
