About Raindrop Peperomia

The raindrop peperomia is an easy-to-care for, fairly compact indoor plant with glossy and heart-shaped foliage. Scientifically, it’s known as the peperomia polybotrya. Within botanical gardens, raindrop peperomia doesn’t grow any bigger than one foot, which makes it quite an ideal house plant. The name peperomia is a Greek name, which means ‘resembling paper’. Polybotrya means ‘many’. The plant belongs to the Piperaceae family that is the pepper family.

This plant, like other peperomia varieties produces inflorescence in the form of a spadix (resembling a rat tail). These flowers grow when the plant is mature as well as when the plant receives the right type of care.

This plant is often mistaken for the Chinese money plant which Pilea as these two plants really do look alike a lot.
